del corazón nace el enjambre is an iterative performance project/body-based freedom practice that asks: how does brownness move? And, how might an embodied attunement to a sense of brown serve as a basis for other ways of being and knowing in the world? Sitting with cockroaches as non-linear ancestors, this practice activates la cucaracha as a time-traveling hemispheric avatar in order to bring forth a brown feminist offering for the future.
The progression of this three-part digital performance questions the notion of what transformation can be by aligning itself the process of metamorphosis.
“...the process of metamorphosis may be one wherein the horror
comes not from change, but instead sameness”
